About 79 million Americans are currently infected with the human papillomavirus virus (HPV). And another 14 million people will become infected this year.

HERE’S THE KICKER, of the more 40 strains transmitted by sex, there are at least 15 high-risk versions that can mutate into cancer.

As a consequence, doctors are now warning that a particular sexual act can trigger the growth of HPV-related cancers. The risk is especially concerning for sexually active retirees.
