The human papillomavirus virus (HPV) is normally flushed from a person’s body by the immune system over the course of several months, but there are HPV strains that can fester in the body and eventually cause cancer.

That’s why the medical community is urging men and women during the pandemic to protect themselves from sexual behaviours that can result in HPV-related cancers.
