For the average person, the human papillomavirus virus (HPV) disappears from the body within one to three days. However, there are at least 15 high-risk strains of the disease that can trigger cancer.

That’s why the medical community is urging men and women to protect themselves from sexual behaviours that can result in cancer.

If you are sexually active and over the age of 60 you may be particularly susceptible to an HPV cancer.
